World War 1
World War I was a global war mostly in Europe that started on the 28th of July, 1914 and it lasted until the 11th of November 1918. It was one of the worst wars in history.
The beginning of this war was started with the death of archduke Franz Ferdinand, whom was assassinated by a cult within Austria-Hungarian. The agent's cult had thought that Austrian-Hungary government was corrupt for not letting them ally with Serbia.
The ultimate reason for world war one was that countries and kingdoms were united by treaties. Most of which stating that if one country/kingdom waged war on the other, that countrys allies would be bound to defend it. (The only country to abandon its treaty was Italy)
Even though world war one started on July 28th, 1914. America didn't enter until after the sinking of the Lusitania. President Woodrow Wilson was MAD, maybe because 195 of those passengers were american. So after the sinking of the Lusitania, we campaigned for liberty bonds, and America joined world war one led by General Pershing, 5 star general.
Even with America in the gilded age, the Germans had better technology. Some of their best technology were U-Boats and Tanks. These advancements pretty much put an end to trench warfare because rifle and machine gun fire didn't affect tanks.
One of the worst things that happened during this war is that the Germans found a new weapon, gas. They would spray a gases that would suffocate you and make it impossible to breathe or just kill you, it was at that time such a painful way to die that (after the war) they made it illegal to use in war (that promise was broken in the Vietnam war).
The range of these gases went from tear gas (which suffocated you, but wasn't lethal), mustard gas (which caused blisters to appear on skin while poisoning your lungs), and phosgene (it had a drawback that the affects took a day or more to kill, this meant that the victims were still able to fight for a day at least).
Finally, world war one ended on November 11th, 1918 when Germany called for Armistice (mostly because they were almost out of supplies) . The world rejoiced as the global war finally halted to an end. For the Allied Powers (France, Britain, Russia, and the U.S.A.) had won and justice had fallen upon the Central Powers (Austria-Hungary, and Germany,). In which they had to pay heavy reparations to the allied powers, and the league of nations agreed to keep lethal gas out of any war-fare.
Now with gas out of war, the treaty of the Versailles in affect, and the world could see peace, for a little while. (Except for Germany whom were treated brutally afterward)
